Quarry Croft is a family home situated in Aberdeenshire, in the centre of the North-east of Scotland, with breathtaking and spell-binding views of the Bennachie range and the Hill o'Noth, near the 'archaeological island' of Dunnideer. The house is a renovated croft, formally part of the estate of the GORDONS OF WARDHOUSE, members of the world famous Gordon Clan, and home of the 'Spanish Gordons'. We have around three acres of land where we are currently creating woodland, orchard, hedgerows and meadowland.

The land around, known as the Garioch (pronounced gee'ree with a hard 'g' as in golf) and the province of Marr, is steeped in the history and pre-history of this area. We are well situated for those seeking quiet and peaceful surroundings with plenty nearby for those who are interested in drawing and painting; birdwatching and natural history ( we are visited by badgers and wildcats); walking,, cycling, golf, skiing and other outdoor activities.

Those interested in fishing are amply catered for at nearby LOCH INSCH trout fishery and excellent river fishing is available on our four local rivers the Spey, Don, Dee and Deveron.

Archaeology and Antiquarian sites abound here, pictures and information on the stone circles, hill-forts and Pictish sculptured stones scattered all around this area can be found on web pages on this site and represent our particular interest in this subject.

The famous Castle and Whisky trails are right on our doorstep visiting the many, many castles and distilleries this area is famous for. Visits to Royal Deeside and Balmoral; the Moray coast and Inverness, and the city of Aberdeen would each fit neatly in to a day trip! Other local places of interest include - Archaeolink, a prehistory park with 'hands on' exhibits along with full-scale replicas of an iron-age working farm with round-house and much more and demonstrations of how our prehistoric ancestors lived; Bird of Prey centre; many Forestry Commission forests and woodlands; heritage and farming, lighthouse and sea-fishing museums, art and craft galleries, studios and potteries, etc, etc.
